Ajiya Calls for Action Against Banditry in Sokoto State

Umaru Ajiya, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Sokoto East, has urged for an offensive against bandits in Sokoto State. Speaking at a combined convocation ceremony at Sokoto State University, where he received an honorary degree, Ajiya emphasized the need for a proactive strategy to tackle insecurity.

He called for enhanced collaboration among security agencies to effectively combat bandit hideouts and sustain military operations against banditry, which has led to increased displacement of residents and a rise in internally displaced persons. Ajiya also advocated for the establishment of a state police force to complement existing security personnel, arguing that local officers would be better equipped to respond to security threats.

As a candidate, he prioritizes security, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of constituents and ensuring equitable resource allocation in Sokoto East Senatorial District.
