Sokoto Diocese Denies Attack on Bishop Kukah Centre

The Sokoto Catholic Diocese issued a press statement denying reports that the Bishop Kukah Centre had been set ablaze, describing the claims as false and misleading. Rev. Father Pascal Salihu, the Director of Communications for the diocese, stated that the reports aimed to cause disaffection among the people of Sokoto.

The diocese confirmed that both Bishop Kukah's residence and the Bishop Kukah Centre remain safe and fully operational. This denial follows the circulation of a misleading video that falsely claimed the centre was destroyed, which emerged after the brutal murder of Deborah Yakubu, a student at Shehu Shagari College of Education, in May 2022.

The statement also expressed gratitude to military and state security agencies for their prompt response to the situation and urged the public to remain calm and peaceful during the Easter holidays.
