Alaafin Owoade Addresses Rift Rumors with Makinde

Alaafin Akeem Abimbola Owoade publicly addressed the speculation regarding a rift with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Olubadan Rashidi Ladoja during a press conference in Oyo town on Tuesday. He clarified that there is no misunderstanding between him and the governor, asserting that any issues are being resolved privately.

The Alaafin expressed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting development in the state and emphasized the importance of peace and growth across Oyo State. He also addressed concerns regarding his absence from recent state functions, attributing it to being indisposed.

The Alaafin referred to a viral video from a 2026 interfaith service, which had been misinterpreted, and reassured that there is no tension between him and the Olubadan. He urged the public to disregard rumors and highlighted ongoing development efforts in Oyo town, including the establishment of a land committee to address disputes.

The Alaafin also mentioned preparations for his birthday celebration on July 18.
