Okoye Urges D’Tigers to Stay Focused in World Cup Qualifiers

Stan Okoye, a forward for D’Tigers and the only remaining member of Nigeria’s 2015 AfroBasket-winning team, has called for the team to maintain a full 40-minute focus in their upcoming games as they aim for qualification for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. This statement comes ahead of Window 4 of the African qualifiers, taking place in Rades, Tunisia, from August 27 to August 30, 2026.

D’Tigers will face Cameroon, South Sudan, and Cape Verde, all of which present different challenges. Okoye stressed the need for resilience and hunger, stating that every game, possession, quarter, and half is crucial.

He described the opponents as tough teams with contrasting styles, highlighting South Sudan's athleticism, Cameroon’s strength, and Cape Verde's unique dynamics. Okoye emphasized the importance of staying focused and adjusting quickly to each game to achieve their qualification goals.
