Suspect Denies Targeting NURTW Leader in Oshodi Attack

On June 15, 2026, a failed cult attack occurred in Oshodi, Lagos, where Tosin Agbeyangi, a 45-year-old caterer, was injured. Agbeyangi claimed that his group did not intend to assassinate Koko Zaria, a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Instead, he insisted that the confrontation was with a rival cult faction, specifically the Oluomo Nation, and that his group, the Koko Zaria faction, was not affiliated with the NURTW. The incident took place when Agbeyangi and his associates confronted members of a rival cult near Mabolaj Street, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

During the altercation, Agbeyangi was shot, and police later found him with a gunshot wound and a locally made pistol with live ammunition. He denied any claims of planning an assassination, stating that they were unaware of the police presence during the incident.
