Thugs Attack Journalists Covering APC Rally in Kano

On the way back to their office after covering the APC rally at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, journalists were attacked by suspected thugs behind the City Campus of North West University, Kofar Nassarawa. The vehicle, belonging to Radio Nigeria, was carrying five journalists, including Yakubu Abubakar Gwagwarwa from Pyramid Radio and a journalist from Guarantee Radio, along with three policemen.

The attackers, armed with machetes and knives, smashed the vehicle's windows and damaged parts of the bus. Gwagwarwa reported that despite the presence of security personnel, the thugs continued their assault, leading to injuries from broken glass.

He suggested that the attack might not have been specifically targeted at them but rather a random act of violence. This incident is part of a troubling trend of political thuggery in Kano, with previous attacks resulting in fatalities.

As of the report's filing, there had been no police response to the attack.
