Anambra Emerges as Nigeria's Beach Soccer Hub

Anambra is gradually becoming a beach soccer hub in Southeast Nigeria, with the Anambra Beach Soccer Association (ABSA) under the leadership of Prof. Victor Madubuko making notable strides.

The association has successfully popularized beach soccer in the region, culminating in the Anambra beach soccer club finishing third in the Nigeria Beach Soccer League and winning its first trophy in 2025. Despite facing challenges such as lack of consistent support and infrastructure, the association has hosted the Nigeria Beach Soccer League twice, attracting top clubs and engaging local enthusiasts.

The construction of a standard beach soccer pitch in Nnewi further enhances the sport's profile. However, the state government has not provided adequate support, which has been a significant hurdle.

Nevertheless, Prof. Madubuko remains committed to empowering youth through beach soccer and promoting Anambra on the national sports stage.
