Tinubu Mourns Passing of Elder Statesman Bamanga Tukur

President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences following the death of Alhaji Bamanga Muhammad Tukur, who passed away at the age of 90. Tukur, born on September 15, 1935, was a distinguished elder statesman, businessman, and former Governor of the old Gongola State.

He served as General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority from 1975 to 1982, significantly modernizing Nigeria's port operations. Tinubu described Tukur as a towering figure in Nigeria's political and economic history, highlighting his contributions to public administration, governance, and pan-African business leadership.

Tukur was elected Governor of Gongola State in 1983 and later served as Minister of Industries from 1993 to 1995 under General Sani Abacha. He was also the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party from March 2012 to January 2014.

Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to Tukur's family and the broader communities affected by this loss, praying for Tukur's soul and the comfort of those mourning.
