Troops Capture IPOB Commander Linked to Police Killing

On April 21, 2026, troops from the Nigerian Army successfully arrested a notorious commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and leader of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), known as Calam. He is believed to be responsible for the killing of a police officer in Delta State on February 26, 2026.

The arrest took place during a raid on a terrorist hideout in Nwofe, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The operation was led by the Deputy Director of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, based on credible intelligence linking Calam to the crime.

During the raid, Calam was found in possession of a black handbag containing five mobile phones and a black Kcsanya motorcycle. He is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation aimed at dismantling a wider criminal network.

The attack on the police officer occurred in Okuku Igbo, Oshimili North LGA, Delta State, where the assailants escaped with two AK-47 rifles.
