Two Arrested for Illegal Revenue Collection in Edo State

Two individuals were arrested at the Uwelu Spare Parts Market in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State, for allegedly engaging in illegal revenue collection. The arrests followed complaints from business owners about unauthorized levies being imposed on them by the suspects.

Johnbull Rufus, the taskforce commander, reported that the suspects were extorting money under the guise of revenue collection, issuing tickets and demanding payments despite the Edo State Government's clear directive prohibiting such activities. The taskforce acted promptly upon receiving reports from traders and customers regarding the extortion.

Rufus reiterated the government's commitment to safeguarding residents and businesses from such illegal practices and warned that individuals or groups involved in unauthorized revenue collection would face legal consequences.
