Two Pilgrims Die in Kano Road Accident on Pilgrimage

On Tuesday, the Kano State Pilgrim Welfare Board confirmed the deaths of two intending pilgrims, Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa, aged 48, and his mother Hadiza Garba, aged 73, following a fatal car accident on the Rimin Gado-Kano road. Alkasim, who is survived by two wives and seven children, and Hadiza, who is survived by five children, were both residents of Walawa Village in the Kabo Local Government Area.

The board's public relations officer, Sulaiman Dederi, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss, emphasizing the heartbreak of their journey to the holy land for pilgrimage. The board prayed for Allah's forgiveness for the deceased and extended condolences to their bereaved family.

The accident occurred on Monday, and preliminary findings indicated that an empty Nipco tanker, registered as TTN 776ZQ, allegedly sped and rammed into the vehicle carrying the pilgrims, leading to their instantaneous deaths.
