UBEC Trains PR Officers to Enhance Education Communication

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) called on public relations and information officers to adopt innovative communication strategies to improve public awareness of government interventions in basic education. This appeal was made by the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr Aisha Garba, during the commission’s 12th Annual Training Workshop held in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
The workshop gathered communication officers from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and was officially opened by Dr Kassim Mohamed, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board. Dr Garba, represented by Mr Edward Ababalaka, highlighted that effective communication is vital for educational development and that the impact of government investments could be diminished without proper public awareness.
She urged public relations officers to document success stories and engage proactively with the community. Additionally, Mrs Kemi Abass, Acting Head of Corporate Communications at UBEC, emphasized the need for a shift from routine publicity to more impactful communication strategies.
