UBEC Launches Digital Platform for Education Tracking

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) unveiled a digital platform designed to allow parents and communities to track basic education projects and funds accessed by states. This announcement was made by UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr Aisha Garba, during a consultative workshop in Abuja with chairmen of the 36 State Universal Basic Education Boards and directors of the commission.

The Basic Education Action Plan Management System aims to improve transparency, planning, and monitoring of interventions under the new 10-year Universal Basic Education Roadmap, set to commence in October 2026. The platform will provide information on funds accessed and projects implemented, enabling communities to hold authorities accountable.

Dr Garba emphasized a "whole school approach" to interventions, requiring states to address all needs of schools comprehensively. The initiative also includes a revision of the matching-grant formula to give states more flexibility in deploying UBEC funds according to their specific educational needs.
