Kwara Lawyers Strike: Union Rejects 'No Pay' Threat

The National Executive Council of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN) has criticized the Kwara State Government's threat to implement a "no work, no pay" policy against law officers currently on an indefinite strike due to unresolved welfare issues. LOAN has expressed strong support for its members in the Kwara State Ministry of Justice, describing their demands as legitimate and long overdue.

The state government has warned the striking lawyers to return to work or face salary deductions, escalating tensions. LOAN's statement, signed by National President Ernest Edomwonyi and National Secretary Adesoji A.

A., emphasizes that threatening workers will not resolve the underlying issues. The association has warned that if the government does not engage in dialogue, the situation could escalate into a nationwide industrial action.

The striking law officers are demanding the payment of outstanding allowances and the alignment of their conditions of service with those of Magistrates in the Kwara State Judiciary.
