ValueJet Expands Fleet with Boeing Aircraft for Growth

Nigerian carrier ValueJet announced its plan to introduce Boeing aircraft into its fleet as part of an expansion strategy aimed at increasing capacity and extending its network across Africa. This acquisition marks the next phase of the airline's growth, enabling it to serve more passengers and expand cargo operations.

The airline currently operates Bombardier CRJ aircraft for domestic services across Nigeria and West Africa. The introduction of Boeing 737 aircraft will provide greater passenger and cargo capacity, allowing for longer routes and a broader footprint across the continent.

ValueJet's aircraft maintenance engineers will undergo specialized Boeing technical training in Lagos, covering maintenance procedures for the Boeing 737 Next Generation (737NG) aircraft, in compliance with safety standards set by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Captain Omololu Majekodunmi, Managing Director and Account Officer of ValueJet, described the plan to induct Boeing aircraft as a major milestone in the airline's development.

Chairman Adekunle Sonam stated that the additional aircraft will support the airline's long-term strategy to expand its regional presence, with future routes planned to cities including Abidjan, Libreville, Douala, and destinations in Kenya and South Africa.
