ADC Faction Appeals to US Over Alleged Party Hijack

The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Bala Gomb has formally petitioned the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, alleging that certain individuals are attempting to hijack the party's structure and subvert its internal democratic processes.

The group claims to represent the legitimate leadership of the ADC and has called for the U.S. government to consider sanctions, including visa restrictions, against those allegedly involved in what they describe as an unconstitutional takeover. The crisis began following the resignation of former national chairman Ralph Okei Nwosu, which created a leadership vacuum.

Gomb insists that due process was ignored, and the party's constitutional procedures were bypassed. He emphasized the need for the U.S. to recognize the situation and take action against undemocratic elements within the party.

The faction also clarified that there is no connection between them and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting their independence from external political influences.
