Oyo CP Olugbenga Advocates Police-Media Collaboration

On Wednesday, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, urged for enhanced collaboration between the police and the media to effectively tackle insecurity. This call was made during a courtesy visit by the executive members of the Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Oyo State Police Headquarters in Ibadan.

Olugbenga stressed the importance of synergy between the police and journalists to promote public safety and combat misinformation that undermines security operations. He cautioned against speculative reporting, particularly on social media, which can fuel the spread of unverifiable information.

Olugbenga described security as a shared responsibility and emphasized the need for journalists to engage in lifelong investigative practices. Comrade Yinka Adeniran, chairman of the Correspondents' Chapel, commended Olugbenga for his proactive approach and called for regular joint training programs to strengthen communication and collaboration in addressing security challenges.
