Wike Cancels 485 Fraudulent Land Documents in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has ordered the cancellation of 485 land documents across Abuja that failed verification checks. This decision follows a review by the FCT Administration's land department, which found that the documents were fake and did not pass authenticity screenings.

A public notice has been issued to inform the public, particularly applicants who submitted land documents to area councils, that these documents are now considered invalid. The cancellation affects several area councils, including Bwari Area Council, impacting layouts such as Ushafa Village and Kurudu.

The action reflects the ministry's commitment to sanitizing the land administration system in Abuja, addressing issues of fraudulent land papers and double allocations. The FCT Administration has previously directed landholders to submit documents for verification, with many files dating back to 2006.

The latest cancellation primarily targets fraudulent documents rather than unpaid fees for undeveloped plots.
