Wike Faction Disowns PDP Governorship Candidate in Ekiti

The faction loyal to Nyesom Wike within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has publicly disowned Dr. Wole Oluyed as the party's governorship candidate for Ekiti State. During a press briefing, Tunji Odeyemi, the state chairman of the Tanimu Turaki-led group, stated that the Wike bloc's claims regarding party leadership and candidacy are not recognized by the authentic PDP structure.

The group emphasized that the congress held recently was unconstitutional and did not have the mandate of the party's leadership. They referenced a Federal High Court judgment affirming Oluyed's candidacy but dismissed it as not binding.

The Wike faction insists that no individual is greater than the party and that proper procedures must be followed for candidacy. They also criticized the recent congress as a distraction from the party's preparations for the June 20 governorship election, asserting that the leadership changes claimed by the Turaki group are unfounded.
