Wike Cancels 485 Fraudulent Abuja Land Titles

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has approved the cancellation of 485 land titles in Abuja that did not meet official verification standards. This action stems from a thorough review conducted by the Department of Land Administration in collaboration with the Abuja Geographic Information System.

The affected documents were confirmed to be fraudulent, leading to their nullification. A public notice was issued on Monday, detailing that these invalid applications would be removed from the regular database.

The cancellation impacts multiple area councils, including Bwari Area Council, affecting locations such as Ushafa Village, Dawaki, Kurudu, Jikwoyi, and Karu Village. This initiative is part of ongoing land administration reforms aimed at addressing challenges like fraudulent documents and double allocations.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration had previously disclosed that 8,287 land documents submitted from 2006 to 2023 were screened, with only 3.2% passing verification, leaving 253,627 pending clearance.
