Wike Nullifies 485 Fraudulent Land Documents in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, announced the nullification of 485 land documents issued by area councils in Abuja, citing failures in the official verification process. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) confirmed that several applications were found to be fraudulent, leading to the cancellation of these documents.

The affected areas include several districts and satellite towns such as Bwari Area Council, Ushafa Village, Kurudu, Jikwoyi, Karu, and Nyanya. The notice indicated that the documents were removed from the regular database maintained by the FCTA's Department of Land Administration.

The minister emphasized that the action was necessary to combat the issue of fake and forged land titles, which have been a problem in recent years. The FCTA is intensifying efforts to regularize land document issuance, with a 60-day deadline for compliance, warning that failure to meet statutory requirements could result in further revocation of land documents.
