NASS Enhances Staff Skills with AI Training Program

The National Assembly (NASS) conducted a training program for 3,841 staff members on artificial intelligence and other essential skills to enhance legislative support and institutional excellence. The program, opened by Prof. Fatai Aremu, Executive Director of Research Enterprise Systems (RES), aims to equip participants with practical skills in AI, team building, and financial management.
Prof. Aremu highlighted that AI could aid in preparing bills, speeches, and reports but cautioned staff to understand the technology's limitations and risks. He stressed the need for staff to assess AI-generated information critically.
The Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, represented by Administrator Essien Eyo Essien, stated that the training was designed to improve productivity and service delivery. Currently, about 750 staff members are participating, with the training continuing beyond this session for sustained improvement.
This initiative follows a previous training for 3,050 legislative aides completed in August.
