Tinubu Urges Adeleke to Promote Unity After Election Win

President Bola Tinubu warned Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke that his recent victory in the governorship election should not be perceived as a conquest over political opponents. This statement was made during Adeleke's visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja shortly after he secured another term.

Tinubu urged Adeleke to promote reconciliation and unity, emphasizing that elections are not wars with winners and losers. He stated, “You did not conquer anybody.

You won an election. That is the essence of democracy.” The President cautioned against stigmatizing opponents and highlighted that Adeleke's conduct post-election would be crucial.

Tinubu encouraged the governor to broaden his political reach and use his second term to improve the state, stating that the electorate's support was a divine wish rather than a reflection of political cunning. He reiterated the importance of building a legacy through cooperation and reconciliation with those who opposed him during the campaign.
