G100 Summit to Foster Opposition Cooperation for 2027

The G100 will convene the First Summit of Key Stakeholders of Nigeria’s Opposition Political Parties on August 31, 2026, at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. This meeting, described as historic, aims to initiate a structured process for opposition cooperation and coordination ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.

Mallam Salihu Moh Lukman, a leader of the G100, stated that the summit is not designed to resolve presidential candidacy questions or finalize opposition cooperation forms in one sitting. Instead, its immediate purpose is to establish a formal framework for collective negotiation.

The summit follows the G100’s publication of the Doctrine of a Necessary Democratic Opposition on August 2, 2026, and consultations with six opposition parties: ADC, APM, NDC, PDP, PRP, and SDP. Each party is expected to send delegations of leaders and key stakeholders to ensure broad representation in the discussions.
