G100 Schedules Opposition Coalition Talks for 2027 Elections

On August 31, 2026, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi will participate in a meeting convened by the G100 at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. This summit aims to unite leaders from six opposition political parties—African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP)—to discuss collaboration ahead of the 2027 general election.

The meeting, themed “A Framework for Opposition Cooperation and Coordination,” seeks to address the challenges of a fragmented opposition and establish a structure for negotiation among the parties. Salihu Moh.

Lukman, the G100 convenor, emphasized that the immediate goal is not to determine a joint presidential ticket but to explore collective action for the country. The consultations leading to this summit began after the G100 released its “Doctrine of a Necessary Democratic Opposition” on August 2, 2026, advocating for organized opposition.
