Sowore Promises N500,000 Minimum Wage If Elected

Omoyele Sowore, an activist and presidential candidate representing the African Action Congress (AAC), has announced his intention to implement a N500,000 monthly minimum wage if elected in the 2027 elections. In an interview with Independent, Sowore articulated the AAC's agenda focused on "revolutionary justice and equal rights," criticizing the current economic system for perpetuating poverty among Nigerians despite the country's wealth.

He emphasized the need for workers' welfare, stating that the proposed minimum wage aims to alleviate the financial struggles faced by workers. Sowore also committed to providing 24-hour electricity, making education free and accessible at all levels, and constructing one million public mixed-income homes while reforming tenancy laws to ease advance rent payments.

Additionally, he pledged to enhance healthcare access, industrialize Nigeria, boost agricultural production, and improve security through modern technology. Sowore's campaign also includes a strong stance against corruption, vowing to recover stolen public funds.
