Northern Igbo Group Backs Tinubu for 2027 Re-election

The Igbo Political Movement of the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, committing to mobilize two million votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Chief John Amaechi Onwe, the Director-General of the Igbo Political Movement, announced this endorsement during a press conference in Kaduna.

The decision was made after consultations with various stakeholders, including traders and community leaders, and was based on a review of Tinubu's administration over the past three years. Onwe emphasized that the endorsement was not based on ethnic considerations, stating, “We in the North are for Tinubu and nothing more.” The group praised Tinubu's economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, as necessary for restoring investor confidence.

They also commended infrastructure projects beneficial to Igbo businesses and highlighted the administration's support for micro, small, and medium enterprises.
