FCT Minister Urges Religious Leaders to Promote Peace

On Thursday, during an interfaith prayer event in Abuja, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), called on religious leaders across Nigeria to reject hate speech, extremism, and intolerance. She emphasized the importance of their influential positions in promoting peace and fostering coexistence among Nigerians as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

In her goodwill message, which was communicated through her Special Assistant on Media, Austine Elemue, Mahmoud highlighted the need for interfaith unity and national solidarity to support Nigeria's sustainable development. She described the gathering as a testament to Nigerians' shared faith and commitment to peace, unity, and stability.

Mahmoud also urged Nigerians to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration as they work on reforms aimed at strengthening the economy and improving infrastructure. She reiterated that Nigeria's diversity should be a source of strength rather than division.
