FG Trains Assessors to Enhance Nigeria's Livestock Quality

The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, led by Minister Stella Oduem, has initiated the second phase of a training program for quality assurance assessors in Kaduna State. This program aims to enhance livestock standards, strengthen food safety, and improve the competitiveness of Nigeria's livestock value chain in both local and international markets.

The two-day training brings together participants from the North West geopolitical zone, including Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Jigawa, and Zamfara states. This follows the successful first phase held from May 6-8, 2026, in Yola, Adamawa State.

Deputy Director of Public Relations, Henrietta Okokon, stated that the quality assurance program is critical for building confidence in Nigeria's livestock products. Dr.

Nurallah Abubakar emphasized the importance of equipping assessors with the necessary skills and tools to conduct evidence-based assessments. Dr.

Pakachi Zakariya noted that the initiative addresses ongoing challenges in quality control and regulatory compliance within the livestock sector, highlighting the need for a robust quality assurance system to protect public health and improve consumer confidence.
