FUTATH Clarifies Salary Structure Amid FG Takeover Claims

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal University of Technology Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTATH) dismissed claims that the Federal Government has assumed responsibility for the salaries of the hospital's entire workforce. In a statement from the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Mr. Tope Fayehun, it was clarified that staff are divided into two categories due to the hospital's transition from a state-owned facility to a federal teaching hospital.

Permanent staff inherited from the former state-owned hospital continue to receive salaries from the Ondo State Government, which has met its obligations. The Federal Government is responsible solely for the salaries of non-regular personnel recruited to maintain healthcare services during this transition.

The management emphasized that recent comments attributed to the CMD were misinterpreted and reaffirmed the commitment to transparency and quality healthcare. The existing salary arrangement aligns with a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Federal and Ondo State Governments during the hospital's transition.
