G100 Summit to Foster Opposition Unity for 2027 Elections

The G100 is set to host the First Summit of Nigeria’s Opposition Political Parties on August 31, 2026, at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. Key leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, will attend.

The summit, themed “A Framework for Opposition Cooperation and Coordination,” aims to initiate structured negotiations among six major opposition parties: the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP). Lukman, G100 convenor, stated that the summit's purpose is not to decide on presidential candidacy but to establish a formal framework for transparent negotiations. The summit follows the G100’s publication of the Doctrine of a Necessary Democratic Opposition on August 2, 2026, and aims to create five specialized Working Groups to develop essential documents for opposition cooperation within four weeks.
