MultiChoice Launches Masterclasses for Nigerian Filmmakers

MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) has initiated a series of 13 regional masterclasses aimed at film and television practitioners across Nigeria, celebrating eight years of commitment to the country's creative industry. The first masterclass, titled the International Sales and Distribution Executive Masterclass, took place on August 24, in collaboration with the Nigerian International Film Summit.

It focused on the theme ‘From Script to Market: The Future of Cinema in Africa,’ featuring panellists such as Kene Mkparu, Funmi Onuma, and Ijeoma Onah. They discussed the intricacies of international sales and distribution for African films.

Akaoma Onyeonoru, MTF's Academy Director, emphasized the importance of understanding the business side of filmmaking. The second masterclass, the Africa Microdrama Summit, was held on August 26, 2026, and addressed the growth of short-form scripted content, with insights from industry leaders including Atinuke Babatunde and Ifeoma Areh.

The discussions highlighted changing audience consumption habits and the opportunities for African storytellers in the mobile-first entertainment economy.
