NCAA Signs MoU for Advanced Cargo Information System

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Firstway FZE and Global Software & Digital Solution (GSDS) to implement a Pre-Loading Advance Cargo Information (PLACI) system for air cargo in Nigeria. Announced via the NCAA’s official X account, the system will initially target inbound air cargo, enabling the assessment of relevant information before shipments are loaded onto aircraft.

Capt. Chris Najomo, NCAA Director General of Civil Aviation, described the agreement as a significant milestone for aviation security in Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of adhering to agreed procedures during implementation.

Peter Igbinedion, representing Firstway FZE and GSDS, noted that the project took approximately nine to ten months to reach this stage. NCAA Director of Legal Services, Mary Tufano-Eche, highlighted the necessity of the lengthy process to safeguard the Authority’s interests.

The initiative aims to create a safer, more secure, and internationally compliant air cargo system, with technology adoption being a key focus in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
