Police Arrest Two Vandals in Cross River State

On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at approximately 11:20 am, the Cross River State Police Command arrested two suspected vandals, Kelvin Ignatius, 27, and Arnold Okon, 29, in connection with the theft of facilities from Akamkpa Quarry Limited in Akamkpa Local Government Area. The arrest was made by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, Sector 2, Akamkpa/Ugep, following credible intelligence.

The suspects were apprehended near Nsang Junction during a routine patrol. Police recovered three long iron poles believed to have been stolen from the quarry.

During preliminary questioning, the suspects allegedly admitted to stealing the poles and confessed to involvement in the theft of additional company property, including diesel, engine oil, and truck tyres. The state Commissioner of Police, CP Ajo-Geoffrey Ordue, praised the operatives for their swift action and emphasized the need for ongoing investigations to apprehend other members of the vandalism network.

He urged the public to provide information on suspicious activities around critical infrastructure.
