Police Rescue 11 Abducted NYSC Members in Kogi State

The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the abduction of several National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were traveling from Bayelsa State to Abuja. The incident occurred last Wednesday along the Aloma–Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area when armed hoodlums blocked two buses.

On Friday, the police announced the successful rescue of 11 victims, including the drivers of the buses. The operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ofu, following a distress call.

Two abandoned vehicles, a Peace Mass Transit white Hummer bus and a yellow 18-seater bus, were recovered during the operation. The police spokesperson, ASP Salisu Oyiza Afusat, indicated that most of the rescued individuals were NYSC members returning from a three-week orientation program in Bayelsa.

After debriefing, the victims were allowed to continue their journey. The police are continuing operations in the surrounding forest to rescue any remaining victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
