UAE Job Seekers Warned About Fraudulent Recruiters

Job seekers in the UAE have been warned to exercise caution when considering employment offers due to the rise of sophisticated fraudulent recruiters. Igor Abalov, managing partner at Lawford Legal Advisors FZ-LLC in Dubai, stated that while accepting a job from a fraudulent company does not inherently create criminal liability, candidates must be aware of their actions throughout the hiring process.

Red flags include receiving large payments for simple transfers, using personal bank accounts for company funds, and requests to forward money to strangers. Candidates should immediately report suspicious activities to their bank and authorities.

Sumit Pant, head of e-care at TASC Outsourcing, advised verifying the existence of companies and job vacancies through trusted platforms. Nicki Wilson, managing director of Genie Recruitment, emphasized that candidates should never pay to secure a job and should be wary of unusually high salaries or immediate offers without interviews.

Candidates can verify job offers through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation using serial numbers or barcodes.
