UBEC and Sultan Foundation Join Forces to Boost Education

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has entered into a partnership with the Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development to combat the issue of out-of-school children in Nigeria. This collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at identifying out-of-school children, facilitating their enrolment in schools, and enhancing community participation in education.
At the MoU signing ceremony, UBEC Executive Secretary Dr Aisha Garba, represented by Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) Rasaq Akinyemi, emphasized the importance of education for national development. She acknowledged the support of the Minister of Education Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa and Minister of State for Education Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad in promoting inclusive access to education.
UBEC has previously facilitated the construction of over 4,900 classrooms and benefited more than 2.3 million learners. The partnership will establish committees for education advocacy and involve traditional and religious leaders in encouraging families to prioritize children's education.
