Agbonayinma Explains Atiku's Non-Prosecution Over Funds

Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, a former lawmaker representing the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency of Edo State, stated that Atiku Abubakar could not be prosecuted for alleged funds transfer due to the immunity he held while serving as Vice President. Agbonayinma provided this explanation during an interview on Arise Television.

He referenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo's call for an investigation into Atiku, alleging that significant sums of money left Nigeria through companies associated with Atiku. Agbonayinma noted that the United States conducted a thorough investigation, revealing millions of dollars moving through various banks.

He criticized the EFCC for not progressing with the investigation, questioning why the matter remains unresolved despite previous findings under former chairman Nuhu Ribadu. Agbonayinma expressed concern over the justice system, pointing out that individuals imprisoned for minor thefts contrast sharply with those who have allegedly committed larger financial crimes without facing prosecution.
