Datti Baba-Ahmed Refuses to Promote Obi, Atiku Against Tinubu

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, articulated his stance on not promoting presidential candidates Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar against President Bola Tinubu. In an interview on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast, Baba-Ahmed expressed that he believes none of the candidates contesting against Tinubu possess the capacity to enhance Nigeria's situation.

He emphasized that his comments were made to ensure a level playing field among the contenders, stating, “I will not disadvantage Uncle (Tinubu).” Baba-Ahmed clarified that he does not wish to give undue advantage to any opposition candidates by suggesting that Tinubu should step down. He also rejected claims that he had withdrawn support for Obi, affirming his appreciation for their political history and expressing respect for Atiku Abubakar, whom he regards as a father figure.

Baba-Ahmed mentioned that he had raised concerns about Obi's political plans as early as January 31, 2024, and reiterated his commitment to supporting Obi.
