UK Family Visa Income Requirements

The UK government allows couples applying for a family visa to combine their incomes to meet the minimum income requirement of £29,000. Both partners must provide proof of income to qualify, as failing to meet this requirement is a common reason for application refusals.

The UK government announced that from 2026, foreigners applying for a family visa can use personal savings as an alternative to the standard income requirement of £29,000, with savings above £16,000 qualifying as recognized income.

The UK government has announced exemptions from the £29,000 family visa income requirement for two categories of foreign nationals, including those whose UK partners receive specific disability benefits and those who applied as partners before April 11, 2024.
